2008 Nissan Pathfinder - Overview

2008 Nissan Pathfinder | Overview

For decades, Nissan has manufactured various models that can personify with quality, longevity and excellent value both during purchase and when it comes to resale value after some time. Of all the models, the Pathfinder is one such model for which the manufacturer is really proud of. This year, the seven models in four trims are given a totally new look inside and outside. Since its launch in the market, the models have received a mixed reaction by the users.

Exterior Look

This mid-sized SUV is available in four trim levels: S, SE, SE Off-Road and LE. All but the 4WD-only SE Off-Road comes with a choice of rear-wheel or four-wheel-drive. At the first glance, the Pathfinder looks much like the last year's model. However, there are some changes done by the manufacturer for the exterior body. The front bumper has been mildly restyled and the doors have new rub strips. Other exterior styling features include a restyled grille and hood, new chrome applique for body side moldings and a new rear lift gate with power cinch facility.

Engine That Promises Powerful Ride

The 2008 Nissan Pathfinder runs on two powerful engine configuration such as 4.0-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine and a 5.6-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 engine. The V6 engine gives a 266 horsepower at the rate of 5,600 rpm, while its torque capacity is 288 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm. The powerful V8 engine gives a horsepower of 310 at the rate of 5,200 and when it comes to the torque it is 388 lb-ft @ 3,400 rpm. Only the base S model's engines are mated with a 5-speed automatic transmission, while for the other models it is a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. The fuel economy of the models is also good enough.

Spacious Interior

In the upscale cabin, there are seating arrangements to accommodate comfortably seven adult passengers across three rows of seat. For all the trims, there are different seating arrangements. The second-row 40/20/40-split fold-flat bench seat with tip-up easy entry for third row and the third-row 50/50-split fold-flat bench seat are common across all models and body styles. While the base S, SE and SE-Off Road models have cloth seat trimming, the top-of-the-class LE gets a new look with best quality leather-appointed seats. For a comfortable ride, the upscale cabin has been highlighted with a number of standard comfort and convenience related features. Moreover, there is moderate cargo space all through out the design.

Entertainment On The Road

All throughout the cabin one can notice creative designing and intelligent amenities with plenty of entertainment related features. For the occupants of the base S models, there are standard AM/FM/CD audio systems and six powerful speakers to keep them entertained while driving. On the SE, SE-Off Road and LE, there are standard entertainment equipments in the form of Radio Data System (RDS), speed-sensitive volume, MP3/WMA CD capability, auxiliary audio input, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and satellite radio pre-wiring. However, as the LE is the luxurious trim in the current line-up, the manufacturer has also included Digital BoseŽ audio system with AM/FM/in-dash 6-CD changer, single CD on Navigation Package, Dual Media Playback, ten speakers and XM Satellite Radio services.

Safety Equipments

One more reason to buy the latest Pathfinder SUV is its extensive range of high quality safety features. All the models are very closely associated with safety, performance and durability with the standard features like Advanced Air Bag System, front seat Active Head Restraints and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags for all the three rows. Moreover, one can surely rely on the new Pathfinder vehicle, as it has received excellent crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In NHTSA testing, it has earned four out of five stars for frontal-impact crash protection, while for side protection for the front and rear row, the rating is five stars.
