The engineers and designers of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder have given a totally new look to the models after the last full redesign in 2005. To meet the expectations of the off-road crowd, the latest line-up has been designed on a sturdy, heavy body-on-frame platform derived from the full-size Titan pickup and Armada SUV. Apart from the S, SE and LE trims, there is also the dedicated S Off-Road trim. The models are offered both as four-wheel-drive and full-wheel drive systems. This restyled mid-sized SUV has been given a totally new look from inside and out, with new front and rear fascias and a restyled grille, a new instrument panel and the all-important revised cup-holder design.
The manufacturer has provided with a comprehensive array of safety features for the latest Nissan Pathfinder line-up. To take care of the safety aspect, it comes with over 50 standard safety features, optional technologies along with child-safety programs such as Snug Kids. In all the seven models, one can find Nissan's Advanced Air Bag System, front seat Active Head Restraints and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags for all the three rows. Only the LE trim has a full set of six airbags, while for the other models, the front-side airbags and full-length curtain airbags come as an optional package. The LATCH System (Lower Anchors And Tethers For Children) allows one to seat their child in the second or third row seat without the use of seat belts. High quality, pipe styled side door guard beams and hood buckling help in protecting the body structure. The 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is combined with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) for providing outstanding braking power in any situation. Moreover, with the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) which comes as a standard feature helps the Pathfinder to move smoothly even on a steered path. Moreover, one can surely rely on the new Pathfinder vehicle, as it has received excellent crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In NHTSA testing, it has earned four out of five stars for frontal-impact crash protection, while for side protection for the front and rear row, the rating is five stars.
In short, it will not be wrong to say that the new Pathfinder vehicle gives protection to both front and rear passengers.
