Launched during the mid 1980's, the Nissan pathfinder has seen a lot of changes to meet the expectations of different categories of users. The latest line-up has been given a total makeover in and out for 2008. This year, this mid-sized sports utility vehicle is available in four distinct trims, such as S, SE, SE-Off Road and LE in both full-wheel and front-wheel tractions. Lots of changes can be noticed on the exterior and interior segments. However, the manufacturer has given much importance on providing a smooth ride and handling experience to the users.
The Nissan Pathfinder is available with a choice of two powerful engines. The base engine in the S model is a 266-hp 4.0-liter V6 engine that produces 266 hp and 288 lb-ft of torque. The other powerful 5.6-liter V8 gives 310 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, raising the Pathfinder's towing capacity from 6,000 to 7,000 pounds. The base engine is available in the S model is a 266-hp 4.0-liter V6, while the SE and LE models come with an optional new 310-hp 5.6-liter V8. The V6 engine provides ample power for just about any type of driving and when it comes to the V8 engine, one gets to enjoy a superb driving experience. Both the V6 and V8 are paired with a five-speed automatic transmission on the base S model, though it also comes with manual mode on the SE, SE Off Road and LE models. The five-speed automatic transmission up-shifts smoothly and down-shifts quickly to help allow fast passing. It also lets the engine move at a speed of 75 mph.
So, one can see that the manufacturer has come up with two powerful transmissions to consider while buying.
